Fantastic opportunity exists for an experienced Teacher at Helm Academy. Helm Academy is an innovative new SEN school dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children with diverse learning needs. As a specialist children’s home provider, our successful organic growth has led us to expand our mission, and we are excited to open our first Independent SEN & SEMH Specialist Schools (11-16) offering an alternative curriculum to young people with a range of SEMH special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEN.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, caregivers, and support staff.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and well-being.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing feedback and support to facilitate growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the overall learning experience.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to continually improve teaching practices.

Entry Requirements

  • A committed and passionate view of students with SEND
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with relevant teaching experience, preferably in a SEN setting.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with SEN and effective strategies to support their learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
